Friday's the new music release day. I'm still getting used to that since it moved from it's long running Tuesday time slot last month. There's a couple of times a year where there's very little new music released. One would be after the holidays and the other is right now when everyone takes a summer break.
Usually on this day I'd post some new music highlights but there really are none. That has me looking forward to some of the artists poised with new albums in the near future.
That list of acts includes Beach House, Yo La Tengo, Kurt Vile, Beirut, Glen Hansard, Keith Richards, Mercury Rev, Chvrches, Los Lobos, Widespread Panic and Youth Lagoon. There's plenty more, and that list is just through September, not even counting the holiday season where major artists usually release new material. Best of all is the surprise element of some band you've never heard of coming out with a debut that'll blow us all away.
The new Beach House album comes out on August 28
